MÖTLEY CRÜE, TWISTED SISTER Producer Looks Back On Record Industry's 'Good Old Days'

February 26, 2009

Legendary '70s/'80s rock producer Tom Werman (MÖTLEY CRÜE, TWISTED SISTER, CHEAP TRICK, TED NUGENT) has penned a column for Popdose focusing on his career in the record business during the height of the industry. He writes, "For those of you interested in discovering why there is no more record biz to speak of, I suggest a good book called 'Appetite for Self-Destruction', about the implosion of the record industry in the digital age. Meanwhile, we will be talking about the good old days, when record sales grew every year, expense accounts were fat, and a growing number of labels were constantly hiring new people to find the next big thing."

Werman last year fired back at MÖTLEY CRÜE's bassist Nikki Sixx after Sixx responded to Werman's letter to the New York Times calling Sixx's memoir, "The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star", "totally deluded" and "stunningly inaccurate." Werman took issue with Sixx's claims that the bassist did all the work in the studio on the CRÜE albums "Theatre of Pain", "Shout at the Devil" and "Girls, Girls, Girls" while Werman chatted on the phone.
