LINKIN PARK have set a March 2003 release date through Warner Bros. Records for their much-anticipated follow-up to the group's 2000 eight-times-platinum debut, "Hybrid Theory".The as-yet-untitled album, which is once again being produced by LINKIN PARK rapper Mike Shinoda and Don Gilmore, is said to feature a "heavier" musical direction than the group's prior efforts while maintaining the group's trademark melodic edge. Among the cuts set to be included on the upcoming CD is a song called "Breaking the Habit", which features samples, live guitar, a ten-piece orchestra, live piano and digital manipulation, sometimes all at once. "For the last five years, I've been wanting to write this song," Shinoda told Rolling Stone. "It's about some friend of mine that had some really awful events happen to his family. It's kind of dark. It's not something people will hear on the radio, but it's important to us."
