KORN's BRIAN 'HEAD' WELCH Speaks Of Restoration In 'With Eyes Wide Open' Book

March 28, 2016

According to The Pulse Of Radio, KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch's new book aims to reveal what a wild ride his life has been (so far). In a new trailer for his book "With Eyes Wide Open: Miracles And Mistakes On My Way Back To Korn", Welch says the one word he would use to describe his recent path is "restoration," referring to his relationship with his daughter and his bandmates.

In the trailer, Welch and his daughter are featured. He told Billboard: "When I think about it, my life was torn to pieces. On the outside, I had everything. I was in KORN, and I was playing the big shows. I got divorced, but I had a healthy daughter. I had a nice house, cars and on the outside, it was great. But I lost who I was, and after I got myself together, I was happy inside, but things on the outside didn't look so well. I lost my house to foreclosure and went through so much. But I didn't run back to the drugs and alcohol. I stayed with my faith. I took my hits and kept going and got back to the place where I am now. Seeing that trailer is a tearjerker because I've come so far and I'm really proud of where I am now, and it feels great."

The book is a follow-up to best-seller 2007's "Save Me From Myself", which delved into details behind Welch's decision to leave KORN and embrace Christianity. "With My Eyes Wide Open" will hit shelves on May 17. Thomas Nelson is publishing.

Praise for "With My Eyes Wide Open":

Nikki Sixx (MÖTLEY CRÜE, SIXX: A.M.): "The hardest thing we think we will ever do as a musician is try and survive in the shark infested waters that some call the music industry. Then something harder yet beautiful is revealed to you; God blesses you with a child. Next, the worst-case scenario reveals itself; you have to fight the satanic sharks, tour the world, and raise a child-all at the same time. Mix in some drugs, a divorce and a few million dollars and you're lucky to get out alive. But what about the child? Brian did something mostly unheard of. He quit his band, quit the drugs and raised his daughter alone. Sounds like a fairytale? Well, that's when things really got bad. 'With My Eyes Wide Open' is raw and honest — a must-read."

Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR): "There are those who never leave home, never see what's beyond the fences. There are also those who leave home as quick as they can, desperate for the changes just out of eyeshot. Then there are the people who need to leave in order to see how much they need their home, and vice versa. Brian is the latter. His road led away, but it brought him back to where he needed to be. As a fan, I'm glad he's back."
