KORN Singer Writes Ten Songs For Upcoming CD

February 22, 2003

KORN frontman Jonathan Davis has written ten songs for the follow-up to last year's "Untouchables" and plans for the band to co-produce the forthcoming album. However, Davis says he's still unsure of its direction. "Can't really say yet," he said. "I'll know once I get digging into it. It's basically all about us coming together."

KORN plan to debut new songs on this year's Ozzfest and look to have their next album out soon after completing the summer tour. It would be the sixth release by the Southern California group and would follow disappointing sales for "Untouchables", which has sold "only" 1.3 million units, according to SoundScan. That album is the worst-selling effort by the group, and its numbers are far below half of KORN's two previous full-length studio releases, 1999's "Issues" and 1998's "Follow the Leader".

According to Davis, KORN's upcoming set at Ozzfest will see the band going back to the basics. "It's just going to be classic heavy-hitting KORN — just a good rock show. No real big gags. We've done that in the past. I think it's just, we're getting down to the basics and just putting on a show. It's just raw talent and going out and just killing the kids."
