KORN Guitarist Asks Religious Followers To Be More Tolerant Of LGBTQ Fans

KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch has apparently angered some of his more religious fans over his support for members of the LGBTQ community. According to The Pulse Of Radio, Welch, who converted to Christianity more than a decade ago, posted a photo of himself with LGBTQ fans online over the weekend, writing: "Got to speak and pray with these precious ones in Northern California — at least 2 of them felt a touch from Jesus. A sincere request . . . 'Brian, do you love transgenders? Then, please pray for us transgender people. We need prayer bad.' And I will."

But some of his more religious fans objected to Welch's post, leading him to later ask them on Facebook to show more tolerance. He wrote in part: "To the few people that were running their mouth about Sodom and Gomorrah and the sin of homosexuality, please open your hearts and read this carefully: God looks at the heart and man looks on the outside. What I do and what we all need to do is find out what is inside people's hearts."

Welch added, "These people and dozens of others on my tour this summer are getting some level of inner-healing. They are experiencing non-judgmental Jesus lovers who are planting seeds and speaking life into them . . . Each heartless post from you judgmental ones are only helping to harden their hearts to Jesus once again."

Welch concluded, "It's a tiring job trying to persuade my people to fall in love with the Son of God, Jesus, while other 'Christians' are chasing them away with their posts at the same time. I'm begging you, please stop."

Welch left KORN in early 2005, at the same time announcing that he kicked his addictions to drugs and alcohol by becoming a born-again Christian.

He said a while back that despite having money and fame, he was never truly happy. "I thought I had everything, you know," he said. "I had money -— money was pouring in. Women. And money, to me, money was everything. But through the years, it just, I found that it's nothing actually, because money can't buy happiness. Happiness just comes from one place, and that's the Lord."
