KING DIAMOND To Lend Voice To 'Clerks' Sequel

February 28, 2006

King Diamond will be lending his inimitable voice to acclaimed director Kevin Smith's next movie, "The Passion of the Clerks", which is a sequel to the 1994 independent classic "Clerks", and is due to arrive in theaters later this year.

The movie is set 10 years later, but Dante and Randall are still spending time together, sitting around work, not working.

"Welcome Home", from 1988's gothic masterpiece "Them" is the song in question. There has been no word yet on whether Jay and Silent Bob will launch into fits of air guitar or burst into a joint chorus of "GRANDMAAAAAA!"

IGN's FilmForce is featuring a clip, and stay tuned to Roadrunner Records for more news about this perfect marriage made in hell.

KING DIAMOND will start recording their next album on March 7 in Dallas, Texas and at Los Angered Recording (owned by KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy La Rocque) in Gothenburg, Sweden. The band will then begin rehearsals for their upcoming European tour. The recording and mixing of the new album will continue in August. A release date for the new effort has yet to be announced.

KING DIAMOND last year completed a U.S. tour with NILE, BEHEMOTH and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER. The band's latest studio album, "The Puppet Master", was released in 2003. A live CD, "Deadly Lullabyes Live", followed in 2004.

KING DIAMOND current lineup:

King Diamond - Vocals
Andy La Rocque - Guitar
Mike Wead - Guitar
Hal Patino - Bass
Matt Thompson - Drums
