KATATONIA Are 'Disgusted' By Greek Concert Promoter's Actions

July 8, 2004

Sweden's KATATONIA have issued a statement apologizing to the Greek fans for the cancellation of their appearance at the Athens Open Air festival. The statement reads as follows:

"We would like to apologize to all our fans in Greece for paying money to this 'Fiasco Open Air' in Athens, believing you'd come to what should have been a great two-day event. Even with the disastrous circumstances we witnessed on the first day, we still had every expectation of playing our full set on the second day, but the promoter (Omicron Music) ran away like a rat and abandoned the whole organization like a sinking ship. Suddenly everyone was told the whole 'festival' was cancelled. Left in confusion, disappointment and anger, we had no other option but to find our way back home, unpaid and broke. We're just as sorry as you are, but we'll return to Greece next year and maybe then we can kick this to the dust. We strongly advise everyone to boycott all and any of these vermin's activities in the future. We're disgusted."
