KATAKLYSM: 'Heaven's Venom' Track By Track - Part 3

August 10, 2010

Maurizio Iacono, vocalist for Canadian extreme metallers KATAKLYSM, has provided a track-by-track breakdown of the band's new album, "Heaven's Venom", which will be released on August 13 in Europe and August 24 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2008's "Prevail" was produced by KATAKLYSM guitarist Jean-Francois Dagenais (MALEVOLENT CREATION, MISERY INDEX) and was mixed by Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, MNEMIC, DARK TRANQUILLITY).

What follows below is part two of Iacono's commentary focusing on the tracks 8-10 from the forthcoming album.

"At The Edge Of The World":

Iacono: "Forget IN FLAMES and AT THE GATES! This song rivals the best of them in the melodic thrash area. This song will make many heads turn I think. Unleash your anger and bang your head! For when you feel like your suffocating and you're at your breaking point. Standing at the edge of the world; will you jump or survive?"

"Suicide River":

Iacono: "The most dark, melodic and dramatic song on the album. A gut gripping and very intense song, fast and mid paced without taking a breath. Deals with suicide and how easy it is to take that route versus living in this fucked up world."

"Blind Savior":

Iacono: "The slow finale. A very atmospheric song with a sharp edge. A sing along song it will make you think. Rivals are best slow songs like 'Road To Devastation'. Song deals with questioning God and faith. Questions what you can’t see."

"Heaven's Venom" track listing:

01. A Soulless God
02. Determined (Vows Of Vengeance)
03. Faith Made Of Shrapnel
04. Push The Venom
05. Hail The Renegade
06. As The Walls Collapse
07. Numb & Intoxicated
08. At The Edge Of The World
09. Suicide River
10. Blind Savior

Dagenais previously stated about the new CD, "Everything you wish for in a KATAKLYSM album is here and some unexpected musical adventures as well. Everyone here has given 150% of themselves!

"As KATAKLYSM turns twenty next year, we want to be remembered as the band who never gave up and faced the odds. This explosive slab of metal will lead scene for future conquests and not be forgotten ever. The music, the vocals and the production are all top notch."

KATAKLYSM filmed a video for the song "Push The Venom" in Belgrade, Serbia last month with director Ivan Colic (TYPE O NEGATIVE, UNLEASHED, DEATHSTARS, EX DEO).
