JUDAS PRIEST 'Knocked Out' By 'Metal Guru' Award At CLASSIC ROCK ROLL OF HONOUR

October 8, 2005

JUDAS PRIEST management co-ordinator Jayne Andrews has posted the following message on the group's official web site:

"JUDAS PRIEST were really knocked out to have been given the 'Metal Guru' award by the English magazine Classic Rock. This is given to artists that have 'defined and shaped the world of metal.' The awards ceremony was on Tuesday night [Oct. 4] at the Cafe De Paris in London and I was very proud to have been asked to pick up the award for the band as they were on tour in the U.S. It was a very special night!!"

As previously reported, MOTÖRHEAD's Lemmy Kilmister received the Living Legend award at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour, Classic Rock magazine's inaugural annual award ceremony, which coincided with Kilmister's 60th birthday and the 30th anniversary of MOTÖRHEAD. An entire portion of the evening was dedicated to Lemmy, including video messages from a host of stars and fans and a very special guest to present him with his award. DEEP PURPLE, were honoured with the "Classic Album" award for their seminal 1970 album "Deep Purple in Rock".
