According to TMZ.com, JOURNEY drummer Deen Castronovo has been indicted by a grand jury on a rape charge.

The 50-year-old rocker was arrested on June 14 in Salem, Oregon, on misdemeanor charges related to domestic violence. But now more charges have been added, including unlawful use of a weapon, rape and sexual abuse. He has been barred from having contact with the woman he allegedly assaulted.

The drummer was booked into the Marion County Jail without bail Monday night and is set to appear in court today (Tuesday, June 30) at 3 p.m.

JOURNEY has replaced Castronovo on its current tour by Omar Hakim.

Castronovo has been a member of JOURNEY since 1998, when he replaced Steve Smith.

The drummer was previously arrested in January 2012 for allegedly assaulting his former girlfriend. He was subsequently ordered to perform 80 hours of community service and attend anger-management classes as part of a plea deal.

A representative of Castronovo's claimed at the time that the altercation was "a misunderstanding that should not have been escalated to such a level in the first place."
