JOEY JORDISON: 'SLIPKNOT Is Hard Work'

SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison has told the Pioneer Press that performing in a grotesque mask that's restrictive, binding and sweaty makes breathing and seeing during the band's shows difficult.

"The mask is a pain thing," he said. "It's clammy and your body is moving all over, and you're locked into this thing and you can't get out."

SLIPKNOT will headline Ozzfest 2004's second stage instead of performing on the main stage — a move that Jordison says was the band's preference.

"We'd rather humble ourselves and be on the second stage, because at the main stage, it's all seats and the kids can't move," he told the Pioneer Press. "We've done huge stadium tours, and we didn't even see the fans anymore. This time, we want to get close to the fans and reconnect with them."

Although that may mean bruises and broken bones for Jordison and his fellow musicians, Joey says injuries are no problem if they help SLIPKNOT to retighten its grip.

"SLIPKNOT is hard work," Jordison said. "I don't care what anybody says." [Read more]
