JIMI HENDRIX Tops Guitar Greats Poll

Rock legend JIMI HENDRIX has been voted the greatest guitarist of all time in a poll of readers of UK music magazine Total Guitar. LED ZEPPELIN's Jimmy Page came in at number two, while former CREAM member-turned-soloist Eric Clapton landed at three. Also appearing in the Top 20 are Slash (ex-GUNS N' ROSES), Eddie Van Halen, Kirk Hammett (METALLICA), James Hetfield (METALLICA), Zakk Wylde (OZZY OSBOURNE, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY) and Angus Young (AC/DC), among others.

Magazine editor Scott Rowley said the poll showed his readers were impressed by true talent rather than image.

"What's nice about it is that it's not some music critic's opinion of the best guitarists.

"These guys might not be cool by any music critic's viewpoint, but they genuinely are the fastest, loudest, most exciting players in rock and roll."
