JEFF KOLLMAN Working On Solo Album

July 19, 2003

Guitarist/producer/songwriter Jeff Kollman has started the writing process for a new solo instrumental release, the follow-up to 1999's "Shedding Skin". COSMOSQUAD, Kollman's prog-metal/fusion three-piece with bassist Barry Sparks and drummer Shane Gaalaas, who are currently out on tour with TED NUGENT and Japanese superstars B'Z, respectively, are set to reconvene in the fall to write a follow-up to their highly acclaimed 2002 release, "Squadrophenia". COSMOSQUAD's cover of the IRON MAIDEN classic "Murders In The Rue Morgue", with Ray Alder (FATES WARNING, ENGINE) on vocals, is featured on the European-only bonus CD for "Tribute To The Beast Vol. 2", out now on Nuclear Blast.

After collaborating with former DEEP PURPLE/TRAPEZE vocalist/bassist GLENN HUGHES on "Songs In The Key Of Rock", Kollman recently finished producing another venture involving "The Voice of Rock", HUGHES TURNER PROJECT, also featuring former RAINBOW vocalist Joe Lynn Turner, whose sophomore album "HTP2" will be out September 29 on MTM Music. The album features Hughes alumni Shane Gaalaas (drums),JJ Marsh (guitar),and Ed Roth (keyboards),with RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith and guitar legend Steve Vai making a guest appearance on "Losing My Head", and Kollman himself contributing additional lead guitar on "Burning The Sky".

In addition, Kollman has been writing and recording with a new band, TRANSFER THE ADDICTION, with drummer Shane Gaalaas and vocalist/Crumb Bros. production partner, Mark Renk. Fledgling Crumb Bros.' first undertaking are BAD JUDGEMENT, a promising young emo rock band from Ventura, CA. The group will be out on the road supporting their debut record this summer. Crumb Bros. are actively soliciting "upcoming signed and unsigned talent to help not only produce their songs, but help the artist find and hone in on their strength as songwriters." Submissions can be sent to: P.O Box 33992, Granada Hills, CA 91394.

Kollman will be making his return to the Baked Potato, 3787 Cahuenga Blvd. W, in N. Hollywood, CA on Thursday, July 24 with two live sets starting at 9.00 p.m. Supporting Jeff will be bassist Christopher Maloney (DWEEZIL ZAPPA, HARDLINE) and drummer Charlie Waymire (EGH, FEAR NO EVIL).
