JASON NEWSTED: I Will Sit Down With HETFIELD To "Clear Air"

February 13, 2002

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich called former bassist Jason Newsted last week and suggested that the departed four-stringer meet face-to-face with frontman James Hetfield so that the former bandmates could clear the air surrounding Jason's departure, according to Allstar. "Lars called last week and said that we [James and Jason] should really have a meeting together and do all that kind of thing," Jason told Allstar. "I think that would be really good, after a year to be able to come back and talk to each other." Newsted also revealed that METALLICA have yet to find a new bassist and that his former bandmates are readying a brand new rehearsal facility before getting back to making music in the next couple of weeks.
