IRON MAIDEN Singer BRUCE DICKINSON's CARDIFF AVIATION Completes More Than £3 Million Worth Of Business

June 11, 2015

Cardiff Aviation, a large service and maintenance facility in St. Athan, Wales, United Kingdom whose chairman is IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson, has seen demand skyrocket for its MRO services, with record numbers of aircraft inputs over the past nine months.

Since October 2014, the world-class MRO facility at St. Athan — Cardiff Airport Aerospace Enterprise Zone in South Wales — has completed 43 base maintenance inputs for many big name airlines and top lessors. More than £3m worth of work has been carried out on Boeing 737s, 757s, and Airbus A320s.

Phil Swanson, Commercial Director at Cardiff Aviation, says: "Cardiff Aviation's MRO operations have grown phenomenally in the past nine months and we are seeing strong demand for hangar slots well into 2016. Many customers have commented on the top quality work and fast turnarounds delivered by our experienced local engineers."

Established in 2012, Cardiff Aviation's MRO facilities are located within a former Royal Air Force maintenance base at St Athan. With two hangars originally built to each accommodate a massive VC10, Cardiff Aviation has the capacity to work on up to four narrow body airliners at any one time, with high security parking space outside for an additional 20 aircraft.

Cardiff Aviation incorporates tooling, equipment and state-of-the-art systems rarely seen in civilian MROs including computerised storage systems, temperature controlled heating, advanced fire suppression, and even a built-in cabin pressure testing facility. It also has its own integral engineering workshop, component paint bays, composite repair facilities — enough to build a new aircraft from scratch — and contemporary well-equipped customer office suites.

Swanson says: "Our unique entrepreneurial ethos means we want to introduce a new approach to MRO that works better and more cost-effectively for our customers. The feedback we're getting from major aircraft operators and the increase in business shows that we are now a really credible alternative to the longer-established MROs."

The MRO hangars are a central component of Cardiff Aviation's unique aircraft services range, which incorporates MRO, training, and ACMI leasing.
