IN FLAMES Named 'Best Underground Act' At METAL HAMMER Awards

Sweden's IN FLAMES were named "Best Underground Act" at the second annual Metal Hammer awards, which were held Monday (June 7) in east London (Wire Image, Film Magic).

As previously reported, METALLICA won "Best International Act", SLAYER were named "Best Live Act" and IRON MAIDEN were named "Best U.K. Act" at the awards show. In addition, THE DARKNESS won "Best Video" for their most recent hit, "Love Is Only A Feeling", Welsh rockers FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND won "Best Breakthrough Band" and former MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx was honored with the "Spirit of Hammer" award for his contribution to the world of rock.

The latest IN FLAMES album, "Soundtrack To Your Escape", has sold 34,800 copies and is still doing 2,700 to 3,200 units a week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

IN FLAMES are the first Century Media Family/Nuclear Blast America artist to ever remain on The Billboard 200 chart for two consecutive weeks.
