'27 Heaven' Rock Musical/Satirical Play To Open In New York Tomorrow

After a triumphant national tour playing to sold-out audiences and standing ovations, the producers of "27 Heaven", a rock musical/satirical play about the conversations in heaven between four of the world's greatest rock stars who all died at the age of 27 — Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain — have decided to open three New York City shows at the Broadway Comedy Club Theater for only $2.70 per ticket — making it the best deal ever in New York's Broadway District.

Dates: March 19, March 25, March 26
Venue: Broadway Comedy Club Theater, 53rd St between 8th and 9th Avenues

Please note: Tickets for these shows will be sold on a first-come basis at the Broadway Comedy Club 30 minutes before each performance. All shows begin at 8:00 p.m.

Created and written by New York Times best-selling author/award-winning multi-media artist Ian Halperin and co-written by author Todd Shapiro, and directed by Adam Roebuck ("Vagina Monologues"), "27 Heaven" sees the four rock icons come back to life in a wickedly funny, haunting and rich parable that will rivet audiences with modern decorativeness and irony, and evocation of different times. Part fiction, part real, part visionary history, part revolutionary tract, this play will by turns delight, shock, frustrate and inspire fans of the four legendary rock icons. The rock musical is filled with original music backed by musicians.

"27 Heaven" opens with a recently deceased and rather confused Cobain meeting Hendrix, Joplin and Morrison at the Great Gig in the Sky. Cobain must decide whether or not he wants to walk through the same, exclusive gates of heaven as the three rock icons — who have all been up there at least 25 years. Initially he seems keen to join the exclusive club as they share their experience, warmth and wisdom with him. But a lot has changed since these rockers challenged the terrestrial system. As the conversation wear on, Cobain realizes the three rock icons are more whacked than ever — Joplin still drinks excessively, Morrison has become an Orthodox Jew and Hendrix is no longer the psychedelic prophet of guitar mageddon, but rather a staunch advocate for a drug-free paradise.

Throughout this saga filled with joy, pain, humor and bitterness, a whole submerged world is vividly called into being. It is the engrossing play of three people locked in a karmic bind through successive lives and of one man's struggle — Cobain — to decide if he wants to become part of this eccentric and whacky world. "27 Heaven" unfolds disquieting truths and mysteries; evils that resound through history; and wonders that attain the power of legend of four of the biggest figures ever in pop culture who all have one major thing in common beside countless platinum records — death at age 27.

The New York cast of "27 Heaven" is:

Amy Fulgham - Janis
Corey Corey - Jimi
Adam Shuty - Jim
Brandon Schraml - Kurt
Reagan Miller - Kurt (understudy)
