GURD To Part Ways With Guitarist SPRING

March 24, 2004

Switzerland's GURD, the band formed out of the ashes of the power-thrash metal legends POLTERGEIST, will be parting ways with guitarist Spring at the end of the year. Spring's official statement on the matter is as follows:

"After five years, two studio albums and countless concerts, I have decided to leave GURD at the end of the year in order to start my own project.

"The decision is based on several reasons; to cut a long story short, I lost my idealism and hence also my motivation for GURD quite a while back. This, in turn, is partly due to personal circumstances (family). In addition, however, there were ultimately irreconcilable differences between myself and the majority of the band with regard to the future of GURD (especially in terms of scheduled concerts). Although I am not particularly happy with the present situation, the last thing I want is to get in the band's way. So I have, after careful consideration, come to the conclusion that leaving GURD is the best solution for everybody. Indeed, I have not had any problems with the boys — we are still good friends. Nor am I going to leave the band straight away, for I will play all the live shows scheduled until the end of the year. Needless to say that I will continue to give 100% (now more than ever!!)."

Upcoming GURD shows:

May 01 - Pratteln, SWI @ Z-7 (10th anniversary show)
Jun. 12 - Triengen, SWI @ Jubla Open Air
Jun. 18 - Lichtenberg, ITA @ Eternity Of Rock Festival
Jun. 19 - Winterthur, SWI @ Gaswerk
