GODSMACK Rethink Acoustic EP Idea

October 7, 2003

GODSMACK appear to have changed their minds about releasing an all-acoustic EP, titled "The Other Side", next month through their label, Republic/Universal Records. The band recorded acoustic versions of "Serenity" and seven other songs during sessions in Hawaii this summer with producer David Bottrill. A tentative Nov. 18 release date is set, but LiveDaily.com quotes a management source as saying that plans for the album may change before then.

Speaking to Canada's Chart Attack recently. GODSMACK drummer Shannon Larkin was non-committal about the EP's release, saying "[GODSMACK mainman] Sully [Erna] came up with the idea to do this acoustic record, basically, you know, so the label would pay for our vacation. So basically we went to Hawaii for 17 days for a vacation and did a record for the hell of it. And it's not going to be the new GODSMACK record. We're even thinking of ways... we're not sure how we're going to approach this yet. But we might put it out as a bonus EP on the 'Faceless' record. So if you buy the 'Faceless' record, you get the bonus EP."

GODSMACK will continue to tour the U.S. through the end of November before hooking up with METALLICA for a European trek that will conclude on December 20 in London, England.
