GODSMACK Frontman Undergoes Knee Surgery

January 9, 2012

GODSMACK singer Sully Erna is at home resting after undergoing surgery on his left knee from a sport injury he sustained a while back. According to a post on the band's official web site, Sully "said he is already bored and ready to get back to work."

Erna told BostonHerald.com last month that the band was heading back to the studio in January to mix a live disc and record a handful of cover songs that Erna says "inspired us along the way." A spring tour with fellow Massachusetts rockers STAIND also is on tap.

Erna's December 16 solo performance at The Wilbur Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts was professionally filmed for an upcoming 3D DVD release. The concert is also slated to air on Palladia, a cable music channel that ran a documentary about the making of his solo album "Avalon".

Released in September 2010, "Avalon" features flutes, cellos, hand drums and other exotic instrumentation, along with female vocals. Erna has emphasized that it is "not a rock record."
