GODSMACK Drummer: Next Album Will Be 'Really Heavy'

April 16, 2004

GODSMACK drummer Shannon Larkin has told Syracuse's The Post-Standard that the band's next album will be "really heavy." Larkin knows that because two songs are written, and the band-only jam sessions that GODSMACK records while on tour to enhance the writing process are in gear.

"We'll probably call the disc 'Four', so fans know [the recently released acoustic EP] 'The Other Side' is, like 31/2," he said. "In June, we'll rent a house, in Northern California or Michigan or somewhere not too hot, hole up with our instruments with tapes from the tour and get the majority of the record done. We hope to have ('4') out by spring or early summer 2005."

Larkin also told The Post-Standard that the group's ongoing support slot with METALLICA is like a dream come true for the Massachusetts-based quartet.

"We have, as far as we're concerned, the greatest rock band on the planet taking us under the wing," Larkin said. "It was supposed to be three weeks (opening) in Europe. Then, how about the first leg in the U.S.? Then, the second and third legs. As a rock band, you couldn't ask for better than that. We're doing something right."
