GODSMACK Bassist Says They Just Want To 'Rock' On METALLICA Tour

GODSMACK bassist Robbie Merrill has told The Oregonian that his band have gone over surprisingly well with the METALLICA crowd during the two groups' current North American tour. "It's a little different in Europe because they don't know us as well," he said. "It's a show-me crowd at first. But then we play for a while and we grab them.

"METALLICA told us that everybody else they'd brought on tour had stuff thrown at them.

"We've been touring America forever, so people know us," Merrill added. "Everybody knows the songs and is singing along. And we have a really cool stage setup, so it feels like our own show."

According to Merrill, fans shouldn't expect any of the softer side of GODSMACK in on the group's current tour. "We're gonna hold off on that," Robbie told The Oregonian. "We're with METALLICA, and we have an hour, so we just want to rock. . . .

"We have our own little thing that we do. . . . We're very aggressive and passionate, and there's a lot of energy that we put out onstage. It's hard to really get that out of a CD, but if you come to a show, you'll see."
