GOD FORBID: New Video Interview With DOC COYLE Posted Online

March 17, 2010

Evil G. of BareBonesMusic.com recently conducted an interview with guitarist Doc Coyle of New Jersey metallers GOD FORBID. During the chat, Doc discusses how former HIMSA guitarist Matt Wicklund has integrated into the band as a permanent member, the style he brings to the band and how it's rejuvenated Doc's desire to write and record new material, plus the changes Matt's style will bring to new GOD FORBID music. Doc also talks about the success (or lack thereof) of GOD FORBID based on the strengths and critical acclaim of the band's latest album, "Earthsblood", plus having a dedicated and passionate fan base and how to make it continue to grow. Watch the interview below.

GOD FORBID are back with a vengeance kicking off the New Year with a bang as they have just replaced THROWDOWN on the upcoming FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH North American tour. This massive trek, which kicks off on January 21, will now lead the band directly into their final run of the "Earthsblood" album cycle with KITTIE this March.

Doc Coyle recently stated about the songwriting process for GOD FORBID's next CD, "It's hard to say what the new material will be like, but so far I can say it's going to be very hook-oriented, and obviously without [former guitarist] Dallas [Coyle], it will have a different vibe. Matt and I have very similar musical tastes, but he comes from a more trained background in theory which should create an interesting dynamic. He is also a very good lead guitar player, so there will probably be more solos."

GOD FORBID's last album, "Earthsblood", sold around 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan, to land at position No. 110 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD debuted at No. 2 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

GOD FORBID's previous album, "IV: Constitution of Treason", entered The Billboard 200 chart at No. 119 in September 2005 after shifting 8,300 units.
