GENE HOGLAN Joins ZIMMERS HOLE

December 5, 2007

ZIMMERS HOLE guitarist Jed Simon (also of TENET and STRAPPING YOUNG LAD) has issued the following update:

"In August, our drummer Steve [Wheeler] decided that it would be better if he stepped aside. With a successful business to run and lots of other commitments, he thought it would be best for us to use someone else. So that delayed us for some time... and we needed to recover from losing a brother. There was no anger, no fighting. We understand, he's our bro. Always will be. 15 years he had been with us, so we had to give serious thought about who to call.

"Gene [Hoglan, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, DEATH, DARK ANGEL, TESTAMENT] has loved the HOLE for years, and has been one of our biggest and most outspoken fans. Gene is our bro, and has been a bro for just about as long as Steve, so we called. He said, 'I'll be in Vancouver in a week'... We said, 'Cool'. Gene hit the Armoury Studios in Vancouver and laid down some mighty, mighty stuff. He dropped in a ton o' heavy metal flair, and he did with style.

"So we welcome Gene Hoglan to the ZIMMERS HOLE family... with love and laughter.

"We are deep into mixing right now, although there are still a few parts that are getting dropped in as the inspiration strikes, which with us, is often, haha!

"Keeping with the whole 'family affair', Devin [Townsend, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD] is in charge of the vocals and mix production, amongst the many other things that he is so good at. He's flying in samples and keys as needed to add to what we have already... a true master at his craft. The early mixes are absolutely amazing, and the finished result will be nothing short of pure molten metal!

"Devin is a huge talent and a great friend, we're happy to have him with us again. There's plenty of laughter to go around. And isn't that what music is all about? Having fun without getting so serious that you forget why you are there in the first place.

"Mix will be finished in the next couple of weeks and then will go to mastering... we are on schedule for March release, and will let you know as things get closer. The website (zimmershole.com) should be up and running soon, we are giving it a full makeover. You'll be able to find all your ZIMMERS HOLE needs there: touring, merch, wacky pictures... everything. Stay tuned. I'll update you as soon as it's online.

"Travis Smith (is in charge of the artwork and layout for the new album, and it's all looking quite evil! He does amazing work."

ZIMMERS HOLE this past summer signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records.

The members of ZIMMERS HOLE are no strangers to the underground metal community, as the lineup features Byron Stroud (FEAR FACTORY, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD) on bass and Simon, along with Chris "The Heathen" Valagao (vocals).

Born in 1991, ZIMMERS HOLE has been Byron and Jed's significant other band when not busy with STRAPPING YOUNG LAD or FEAR FACTORY. In the beginning, it was always just a way of spending the weekend drinking far too much and writing absurd songs. As time went on, the group "matured" somewhat, although maturity is highly overrated as far as these guys go, but two remarkable albums ("Bound By Fire" and "Legion of Flames"),a series of successful tours and a string of absolutely unforgettable shows soon followed, putting the mighty ZIMMERS HOLE on the lips of many.
