Former SEPULTURA drummer Jean Dolabella has released the following statement regarding his departure from the band:"First of all, I'd like to thank SEPULTURA Andreas [Kisser], Derrick [Green] and Paulo [Xisto Pinto Jr.] for everything and especially all the fans all around the world. Since the begining I felt really welcome by all of you and I'd like to thank from the bottom of my heart all the fans and friends and everybody that have always supported me and my work as a musician. You are, and will always be, very special to me. We had great moments and I'm sure we've created very good stuff together, but it is time to part ways. Life comes in phases and I decided to start a new one. "I wish all the best for SEPULTURA and I'm very happy and excited with my new path. "From now on I'll focus on my work as a musician, producer and music teacher in So Paulo. I'll keep working on my project with INDIRETO [the Brazilian experimental project featuring Dolabella and SCARCUS guitarist Augusto Nogueira] and others that are already coming along. "And for those who asked, I affirm you that I'm in great shape, my arm is fine and I'll keep on with my projects in and outside Brazil. Good news coming soon!" Dolabella was forced to sit out several shows on SEPULTURA's recent European tour because he was suffering from muscle pain in his arms. His temporary replacement was Amilcar Christfaro from the Brazilian thrash band TORTURE SQUAD. "The period we spent with Jean in the band was very positive," said SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser. "We've recorded two great albums together and did a lot of concerts which will be in SEPULTURA's history. We only have reasons to thank him for his contribution and energy all these years." Dolabella joined SEPULTURA in 2006 following the departure of the band's original drummer, Igor Cavalera. SEPULTURA yesterday announced the addition of drummer Eloy Casagrande (GLRIA, ANDR MATOS) to the group's ranks. The 20-year-old drum prodigy from So Paulo, Brazil, who won the Modern Drummer "Undiscovered Drummer" contest as a teenager in 2006, is more than eager to begin his career with the veteran metal icons.
