Former MISFITS Drummer 'MR. JIM' CATANIA Joins THE VON FRANKENSTEINS

September 18, 2010

"Mr. Jim" Catania, drummer on the MISFITS' seminal 1978 album "Static Age" and the legendary "Bullet" EP, has joined THE VON FRANKENSTEINS. The New York City-based band will be preparing for live dates and working on a new record which will mark the first hardcore/punk material recorded and/or performed by Mr. Jim since the original MISFITS era.

"Mr. Jim" Catania last fall made his long-awaited return to the underground scene — this time as an independent store owner. With Mr. Jim's House of Video in Belleville, New Jersey, Catania is determined to introduce the new generation of rock and punk music fans to the forgotten charm of brick-and-mortar stores.

Mr. Jim's House of Video stocks a huge selection of DVDs, new and used vinyl and independent CDs by local and regional acts. Additionally, the store boasts a vast array of adult merchandise including DVDs, VHS tapes, toys and magazines.

Best of all, the new store has given Catania a chance to connect with MISFITS fans, who continue to show their support 30 years after he last performed with the band.

"The MISFITS 'fiends' are the best," he said. "They really love the band and love meeting me, and it's really flattering to know that something I did all those years ago still gets people excited. I'm always happy to touch base with them, sign autographs and share stories about the old days. I really look forward to meeting many more 'fiends' at the store!"

Mr. Jim's House of Video is located at 143 Washington, Ave., Belleville, NJ.
