Former METALLICA Bassist To Release Much-Circulated Demos

August 28, 2002

Former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted will be releasing a six-song split CD from two of his long-running projects — IR8 and SEXOTURICA — through his own Chophouse imprint, according to the label's web site. IR8's three-tracker, which was recorded in 1994, features Newsted, Tom Hunting of the Bay Area thrash band EXODUS and Canadian STRAPPING YOUNG LAD mastermind Devin Townsend, while SEXOTURICA's portion of the CD was laid down in early 1995 and includes Hunting and SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser.

"[These recordings] been traded in the underground a little bit here and there, but now it's time to unleash it to everybody properly," stated Newsted about the upcoming release.
