Former METAL CHURCH Singer Joins BASTARDSUN

July 26, 2003

Former METAL CHURCH frontman David Wayne has disbanded REVEREND in order to pursue the vocalist position in BASTARDSUN, the British metal group featuring Stuart Anstis, the main songwriter on CRADLE OF FILTH's "Dusk ... And Her Embrace" (1996) and "Cruelty And The Beast" (1998) CDs. BASTARDSUN's debut album was originally due to be released earlier this year through Ireland's Sentinel Records, but it ended up being put on hold after bassist/vocalist Ross Adams left the group.

Although the most recent REVEREND lineup has ceased to exist, Wayne says that he is reserving the right to reform the band at some point down the line.

"Let me reiterate that REVEREND is not dead but on hiatus. HOWEVER, there is a strong possibility that it could be permanent as I am very excited about my new band and the material is nothing short of brilliant!!" Wayne writes on the REVEREND message board. "This is no reflection on past offerings, but call me stuck in old school metal I believe it is where I shine best. I will always be a worshiper at the temples of JUDAS PRIEST, DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH and IRON MAIDEN! My friends, these new songs will strongly reflect those influences in my life."

BASTARDSUN, featuring David Wayne, are expected to release their long-awaited debut album early next year through Sentinel Records.
