Former MELDRUM Singer Announces U.S. Shows

May 3, 2009

Former MELDRUM frontwoman Moa Holmsten will play the following U.S. shows this month:

May 12 - Lit Lounge (East Village) - New York, NY
May 14 - Two Boots of Bridgeport - Bridgeport, CT
May 16 - Union Hall - Brooklyn, NY

Video footage of Moa Holmsten performing live at Sjöhästen in Stockholm, Sweden in March 2009 can be viewed below (clips shot by Ken Haake).

Holmsten will release a new solo EP, "All Blade No Handle", later in May. More information will be made available soon.

Moa announced her departure from MELDRUM early last year, explaning that she "lost the fire, the dedication and the joy. My heart was not in it anymore. A heart, the only heart, I had to be honest to or I couldn't live with myself."

Moa's former MELDRUM bandmate and group leader, guitarist Michelle Meldrum, passed away on May 21, 2008 as a result of a cystic growth on her brain that had restricted oxygen and blood flow to her brain, rendering her braindead.

Michelle had just completed writing and recording MELDRUM's soon-to-be-released third album with drummer Gene Hoglan, along with the group's latest additions, Michele Madden (vocals) and Laura Christine (bass). The surviving bandmembers plan to release the CD in tribute to their fallen bandmate.
