Former HADES Guitarist Completes Solo CD

January 15, 2004

Former HADES guitarist Dan Lorenzo has completed work on his first solo album. "I finished mixing my first solo CD last week at Crystal Studios and it's already in production," Lorenzo said in a press release. "I'll have finished copies with artwork the end of next week. I'm taking advance orders now through my site (www.DanLorenzo.net).

"The last thing recorded was Alan Tecchio (HADES, WATCHTOWER, NON-FICTION),who put lyrics and melody to 'Target Fixation', which I think will make HADES fans happy. Overall it's a big departure from HADES though.

"There are 14 songs. I sang 11 of them. Ron Lipnicki (HADES) played drums on 6 songs. He's been cancer-free for 4 months now and doing great. He actually sang the chorus to KISS' 'Hotter Than Hell', too. I never knew he could sing! I think my vocals got better each time I was in the studio. I'm certainly not a singer, but I think my voice suits my riffs well. I recorded and mixed the whole thing in 6 days with my own money. EVERYTHING was recorded in one take. I'm hoping some stoner rock label will pick it up even though I'm totally straight.

"At the end of the CD, I did something I think every band and label should do. I talked a bit and then played 3 'hidden tracks'. 2 of them are my friends bands — Mike Cristi from YEARS OF STATIC and Mike Koenig's (who engineered the disc) band LOWBUZ. CDs can fit a lot of music and instead of dead air I thought it would be better to turn people on to some other great music. I also included a remix of my song 'This Thing of Ours' with Jimmy Schulman's bass turned way up.

"I want to record another CD by summertime. I've got a bunch more tunes and am more into music than I've been in years."
