Former EF BAND Singer Dies Of Cancer

Vocalist John Ridge of acclaimed early '80s Swedish hard rockers EF BAND passed away on March 4, 2003 after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. Ridge is the second member of the group to succumb to the disease, which also claimed the life of guitarist/vocalist Bengt Fischer several years earlier.

Although they weren't British, the EF BAND sounded like a NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) band and were usually associated with that genre. The group's final studio CD, 1985's "One Night Stand", featured longtime KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy LaRocque (then going by his real name, Anders Allhage).
