FLOOR JANSEN: 'From The Get-Go, I Felt Very Much Welcome' By NIGHTWISH Fans

August 9, 2016

Musik Universe conducted an interview with NIGHTWISH singer Floor Jansen at this year's Heavy Montreal festival, which was held August 6-7 at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. You can now watch the chat below.

Speaking about how she has been accepted by the NIGHTWISH fans in the four years since she first stepped in as the replacement for Anette Olzon, Floor said: "Well, fans are always divided, but from the get-go, I felt very much welcome. I know that the lady before me had a lot of trouble being accepted. Maybe being the third singer, that is easier, because people are more used to changes, or whatever it was. For me, it was very easy; I've been accepted from Day One. And, of course, back then, and still, there are people who'd rather see one of the other singers, or maybe somebody completely different — you can't please everybody — but the general feeling of being welcome has been, and is, there."

NIGHTWISH recently announced that it will take a year-long break in 2017 following the completion of the touring activities for the group's latest album, 2015's "Endless Forms Most Beautiful". NIGHTWISH keyboardist and main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen told Finland's Kaaos TV: "It's a peculiar feeling, because throughout the twenty years [of NIGHTWISH's existence], I've never felt like this, that you really, really need to step away for a while. And it's not really fatigue — it's not like we're burning out or anything — it's just the inspiration or the passion of starting to do a new album, it's just not there. And we are fortunate enough to be in a position that we can actually take a year off, and that's a huge privilege for us. So we're just taking advantage of that."

An unofficial 20th-anniversary show will be held on August 20 at Himos Park in Jämsä, Finland.

NIGHTWISH will release "Vehicle Of Spirit" on November 4. The DVD will feature the band's performance from London's Wembley Arena in the U.K., along with their show at Tampere, Finland's Ratina Stadion.
