Britain's FIREBIRD, the band led by former CARCASS/NAPALM DEATH guitarist Bill Steer, were forced to cancel their performance in Paris, France last night after the projected venue for the gig, Black Dog, was shut down by the police."We were called at 8:30 [Sunday] morning by Christoph Vadurel, promoter at the Black Dog," the band wrote on their official web site. "He informed us that the previous night, police had entered the venue and demanded that the music be stopped immediately. It seems that there have always been problems there with complaints from neighbors about the volume level and a suitable curfew. The end result was that the police have decided to close the venue indefinitely. All three of us in the band are thoroughly disappointed, and would like to apologize to anyone who intended to go. Obviously we want to arrange another Paris date soon — at another venue." FIREBIRD's latest CD, "Firebird No. 3", was released in Japan last month through JVC Records. A European release through an as-yet-undisclosed label is slated for sometime in the spring.
