Finnish Heavy Metal 'Idol' Performs IRON MAIDEN On National TV; Video Available

A video clip of 22-year-old Finnish heavy metal singer Ari Koivunen performing a version of IRON MAIDEN's "The Evil That Men Do" on the Finnish TV talent show "Idols" has been posted online at YouTube.com. Koivunen reportedly had a cold during the show's taping, but managed to move on to the next round of the finals anyway.

Ari is from Lahti, the Finnish town that has given birth to such metal acts as PROFANE OMEN, BEFORE THE DAWN and ENTWINE. One of his hobbies is "Hevikaraoke" (Finnish "heavy metal" karaoke); in 2005 he won the Finnish karaoke championships. Among his favorite bands are IRON MAIDEN, RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE, DIO, PROFANE OMEN and HELLOWEEN.

The "Idols" program is broadcast in Finland every Thursday on MTV3.
