Finland's Spin-Farm Oy, the parent company of Spinefarm Records, Spikefarm Records, Ranka Recordings, Odor, Freeride and Hawaii Sounds and the home to such acts as NIGHTWISH, THE BLACK LEAGUE and CHARON, among many others, has had a controlling interest in the firm bought by Universal Music. According to an official statement from Spinefarm, the deal will not affect Spin-Farm Oy's foreign or domestic relations, distribution or contracts, and Spin-Farm Oy will continue to function as independently as before. The whole staff of Spin-Farm Oy, including its president Riku Pkknen, will reportedly continue to work for the company in its previous capacity. Although Spinefarm will continue to work as a distributor, some of the biggest bands on the Spinefarm label (such as NIGHTWISH) will be released worldwide via Universal, Motor, or Roadrunner Records, depending on the territory.
