EYES OF FIRE Announce New Drummer, Comment On DANZIG Tour

August 13, 2004

EYES OF FIRE, the experimental Orange County, California-based featuring Matt Fisher and Dan Kaufman from the legendary cultists MINDROT, have replaced drummer John Haddad (ex-PHOBIA, DEAD AMERICA) with Nicky Bernardi (formerly of Bay Area hardcore/thrash metal band THE SICK).

Commented Fisher: "John was a great asset to the band for the past 3 1/2 years. He definitely helped us get to where we are now. His decision to leave the band comes as he cannot meet the tour cycle the band plans to endure in the near future. John has family to take care of and will be running www.shivaindustries, our recording studio in which we remain partners, where we have been recording great metal (NOCTUARY, DREAMS OF DAMNATION, KILLING THEORY, SCARS OF TOMORROW, PHOBIA, WINTER THRALL). We wish John the best of luck in all his future plans.

As for John's replacement, Fisher says, "Nicky seems to be the missing link EYES OF FIRE have been searching for. He brings a whole new element to the band. His tribal power and percussive skills far supersede what we were looking for in a drummer. He also uses samplers/sequencers and all kinds of different percussion, ranging from African tribal to the most primal hardcore beats. The potential on our next record should be limitless. Above all, he wants to get out on the road [as soon as possible]. Which is the mindset of the band already."

EYES OF FIRE will be teaming up with DANZIG, DOYLE (featuring ex-MISFITS guitarist Doyle),MAYHEM, DEVILDRIVER and DEATH ANGEL for this fall's edition of the "Blackest Of The Black" tour.

Said Fisher: "We are proud and excited to be apart of the Blackest Of The Back tour 2004. It was amazing to talk to [Glenn] Danzig personally about being on his tour. We are a relatively young band. With so many great bands on the bill we will be sure to provide the best opening slot performance anyone would expect from such a tour. We know we have a lot to prove and we will not let the true fans down."

In other news, EYES OF FIRE have signed a new management deal with Shawn Barusch of Hollowpoint Management.

"Shawn is a good guy and works very hard with his bands," said Fisher. "He has been in the metal world for many, many years and he is the guy that can make sure we are on the road, where we need to be. We look forward to many tours and lots of works over the next few years."

EYES OF FIRE's full-length debut, "Ashes To Embers", was released in March through Century Media Records. The band's music is being described in an official press release as "a potent mix of ambient noise and thrash layered with a bottom-end so heavy it rattles the lungs."
