Ex-MARDUK Frontman: REBELANGELS Is 'Recharged, Remade, Unleashed!!'

April 4, 2006

Former MARDUK frontman Legion (a.k.a. Erik Hagsted) has issued the following update on REBELANGELS, his California-based project also featuring ex-MARDUK bassist B.War (a.k.a. Roger "Bogge" Svensson):

"OK, we're back! After all the twists and turns of last year struggling to put together something fresh and different after MARDUK with numerous setbacks and mind jobs it seems like things has fallen into place and we are ready to go at it for real.

"I'm pleased to say that the rhythm guitar duties are still handled by Jimmy Larsen that me and B War put this project together with. On lead guitar we have required Jonas Mattson, known for his participation in numerous death metal projects, and let me assure you that this guy really shreds with a lot of feel to it. We are all really happy about that he chose to join our ranks. The bass playing duties are still carried out by B War who with his long and successful run in the heavy music community does not need any further introduction. And finally I am so pleased to reveal the identity of the REBELANGELS drummer, who not only by his unreal drumming skills but also by his creative input and close personal bond with me and B War has proven to be an invaluable asset to this project — you all know him as a driving force behind MARDUK and THE LEGIONEmil Dragutinovic. The vocals are handled by yours truly who is back to his old howling self with a twist.

"The new REBELANGELS has been fueled with a lot of madness and darkness and can probably be described as our natural continuation of MARDUK only with a broader spectrum of musical visions. What really burned me out was that the concept of MARDUK narrowed me down to feeling like a fly in a jar. There was so much coming out of my guitar that would never fit, lyrically it was the same, rather than to spill out whatever will come out on a paper I found myself recycling old lyrics just trying to package them in a new snappy way.

"What we have done now is letting ourselves get inspired by all the stuff we really love, heavy music in all shapes and sizes from the '70s up 'til today is all in there together with our legacy so far from our previous projects that the foundation of the REBELANGELS rely steady upon.

"We want to crossbreed, renew and refresh with this band and so far so good. We have now recorded a bunch of tracks that will find their way to relevant people in the music industry and when we see that things are moving on we are ready to share it with all of you fiends out there.

"We feel like we have a lot to prove and we are gonna sweat and bleed 'til the last drop to make sure that this will kick some serious ass!"
