Ex-ICED EARTH Drummer RICHARD CHRISTY Tries To Get Job On 'The Howard Stern Show'

June 21, 2004

Renowned heavy metal drummer Richard Christy (ICED EARTH, DEATH, CONTROL DENIED, BURNING INSIDE) is trying out for Stuttering John's job on "The Howard Stern" radio show all this week. Richard, who is the final contestant, was on the show Monday (June 21) for his first daily tryout and was, by all accounts, absolutely hilarious. The following is a synopsis of Christy's appearance on Monday's show, as reported by MarksFriggin.com:

"Howard brought in Richard Christy who has been sending in tapes to the show for years. He's in all week trying out for the 'Get John's Job' competition. Richard said that he's been sending in stuff since 1999. Howard played a compilation of some of his stuff to give everyone a taste of what he's done so far. The guy has contributed to the show more than you think. He's done a ton of song parodies about KC and Gary. He's also done some remixes of Robin's news theme among other things.

"Today Richard had a montage of some songs he's put together. Howard said he'd play some of the stuff he had for them. Richard took a bunch of TV show theme songs and used 'Baba Booey' along with them. Artie was laughing his ass off as he heard some of the songs. Howard played one where Richard took some OJ Simpson clips and Eric the Midget clips and put them to music. In another song he took Vinnie Favale's tapes and put some of the creepy lines he has to music. Richard offered to play drums for THE LOSERS if they enter the Vinnie Favale song parody contest. Howard told him he's in.

"Howard played some of Richard's other song parodies and they were pretty good. KC came in and told Howard hat Richard had a total of 45 songs. Howard played some more of the gay KC songs he put together. There were a ton of them and each one was just as funny as the last. Howard took some phone calls and the fans seemed to be happy with what they were hearing. People weren't aware that he had created so many of those songs and other bits that Howard had played.

"Howard said that he's looking forward to having him in all week but there were a lot of other guys who were great including Dan the Song Parody Man, Sal the Stockbroker, Yucko the Clown and the others. Artie also said that Rev. Bob Levy was great as well. Howard had to take a break shortly after that."
