Ex-ANTHRAX Singer JOEY BELLADONNA 'Butchers' National Anthem At NFL Game

December 14, 2004

According to Tom Powers of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, former ANTHRAX singer Joey Belladonna "butchered the words" to the national anthem at the Minnesota Vikings vs Seattle Seahawks National Football League (NFL) game on December 12 at the Minneapolis Metrodome.

Says Powers: "I knew it was going to be a screwy afternoon when the national anthem singer — a scraggly-haired relic from an '80s heavy metal band — butchered the words. And that's hard to do because they are displayed on the jumbo scoreboard."

Belladonna has just released a collection of previously recorded material, entitled "Artifacts I", via his official web site. Says Belladonna: "This is the first of a two-volume set containing material recorded in 1993. (And if you liked the 'Belladonna' album, you'll love this collection. These are the original recordings.) The artists are Paul Crook [ex-ANTHRAX, SEBASTIAN BACH], guitar; Paul Mocci, bass; Jeff Tortora, drums; and me doing the vocals."
