Sweden's ENTOMBED have set a tentative mid-March 2003 release date for their as-yet-untitled new effort, which is currently being recorded at a Stockholm studio with producer/FIRESIDE guitarist Pelle Gunnerfeldt. In other news, the band have inked a Scandinavian distribution deal with Playground for their own label, Threeman Records, and will release all ENTOMBED-related recordings through the company. Forthcoming releases from MURDER SQUAD (featuring DISMEMBER bassist Rickard Cabeza, DISMEMBER vocalist Matti Kärki, ENTOMBED guitarist Uffe Cederlund and ENTOMBED drummer Peter Stjärnwind) and THE PROJECT HATE MCMXCIX (featuring ENTOMBED's Jörgen Sandström on lead vocals) are said to be the first on the list to be issued through the label, along with vinyl versions of ENTOMBED's "Uprising" and "Morning Star" albums. Also on the ENTOMBED-related front, WASHOE, the new band formed by ENTOMBED guitarist Uffe Cederlund and three former members of MISERY LOVES CO. (vocalist Patrik Wirén, bassist Patrik Thorngren and drummer Olle Dahlstedt),have changed their name to ALPHA SAFARI. Meanwhile, Uffe's former band HAYSTACK have announced plans do a one-off reunion gig with the original line-up, including Johan from BACKYARD BABIES on bass and Jonas from THE MAGGOTS on drums. The exact date for the show has yet to be announced.
