EMPTY FLOWERS To Release Star-Studded Collaborative Album 'The Air You Found'

January 14, 2014

EMPTY FLOWERS, the East Coast post-rock band featuring frontman Christian McKenna and former members of CABLE, will release a collaborative collection of reworked EMPTY FLOWERS songs titled "The Air You Found" on February 18 via Translation Loss. The record will showcase all-new versions of tracks from the group's debut LP, "Six", and sophomore album, "Five", with added instrumentation and contributions from members of TOMBS, GORGUTS, DYSRHYTHMIA, ISIS, PALMS, KHANATE, OLD, DÄLEK, THEOLOGIAN and more. Artwork for the album was created by artist Brian Azer (SUN KIL MOON, JESU). "The Air You Found" will also be released on vinyl LP via Redscroll Records.

Teasing the forthcoming release, Spin has premiered EMPTY FLOWERS' joint effort with GODFLESH / JESU mastermind Justin Broadrick titled "Car Fires", calling the cut "a slow-burning thing of blistering beauty and dark transcendence." The reworked version of the song, which can be streamed at Spin.com, includes additional instrumentation from Broadrick.

EMPTY FLOWERS formed in early 2012, and immediately found favor with both heavy music and indie rock fans alike for its engaging, cathartic sound. The quartet's burning riffs, interlocking groove and the indomitable vocals of McKenna have forged the band a forward-thinking sound, while calling for comparison to stalwarts such as LUNGFISH, GIRLS AGAINST BOYS, SLINT and SUPERCHUNK. EMPTY FLOWERS' debut album, "Six", was called "immediate" by Pitchfork and named as "Album Of The Week" by Stereogum who called the band's sound "serious kickass rock fury." Decibel magazine spotlighted EMPTY FLOWERS with a track-by-track breakdown of the group's sophomore album, "Five", calling the LP "a pretty damn compelling aural journey."

Now, with the upcoming LP "The Air You Found", EMPTY FLOWERS expands its ever-widening sound by teaming up alongside a veritable "who's who" of underground rock artists; friends and peers who gladly contributed to the band's unique, inspired musical vision.

EMPTY FLOWERS features Christian McKenna (vocals),Randy Larsen (bass),Bernie Romanowski (guitar) and Andre Galiffi (drums).
