ELVENKING: 'Red Silent Tides' Release Date Confirmed

August 4, 2010

Italian folk/power metallers ELVENKING will release their new album, "Red Silent Tides", on September 17 via AFM Records. The CD was recorded at Piranha studios in Karsdolf, Germany with producer Dennis Ward (ANGRA, PINK CREAM 69, PRIMAL FEAR). The album's cover artwork, which can be viewed below, was created by Samuel Araya, who has previously worked on CRADLE OF FILTH's "Thornography" CD.

"Red Silent Tides" track listing:

02. The Last Hour
03. Silence De Mort
04. The Cabal
05. Runereader
06. Possession
07. Your Heroes Are Dead
08. Those Days
09. This Nightmare Will Never End
10. What's Left Of Me
11. The Play Of The Leaves

The song "The Cabal" is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page.

A video for "The Cabal" was filmed on June 5-6 with director Mirco Andreis, who previously worked with ELVENKING on "The Divided Heart" clip.

In a recent interview, ELVENKING vocalist Damnagoras stated about the band's new material, "This album won't be based on any specific topic at all. This time all lyrics will be separate as it was in the past. Talking about the direction of the music and the songs… it's pretty difficult, you know. Of course there are some typical ELVENKING songs — but with something new, as usual. As we always say, with each album we want to make something new, something fresh, and I think these songs go along these lines. You see, you'll know there's ELVENKING playing 'cause there's the melody, there's the violin and all this stuff, but it's something new again and I think it's something between what we made on 'The Scythe' and what we made on the 'Two Tragedy Poets' acoustic album."

ELVENKING will promote the new album by supporting PRIMAL FEAR on the first leg of their European tour, along with the German band KISSIN' DYNAMITE.

ELVENKING last fall announced the addition of session violin player Lethien to the group's ranks.

Back in September, 2007, ELVENKING explained that Elyghen had temporarily moved to Ireland for working reasons. They emphasized that he wasn't leaving the band and that Eleonora (the girl who had played the violin in the quartet that performed on ELVENKING albums) would help the band out on live dates that Elyghen couldn't be present for.

ELVENKING released an acoustic album, "Two Tragedy Poets (...And A Caravan Of Weird Figures)", in Europe on November 14, 2008 via AFM Records. The CD was issued in digipack and jewel case formats.

ELVENKING's last "electric" album, "The Scythe", was released in Europe in September 2007 via AFM Records.
