ELVENKING Part Ways With Guitarist

February 20, 2005

Italian folk/power metal band ELVENKING have parted ways with guitarist Jarpen.

Jarpen's decision to leave the band was announced to the other members of the group two months ago, but the band waited to make it official in order to organize their internal affairs. For the time being, the group will go on as a five-piece, with one guitarist.

Commented guitarist Aydan: "Jarpen didn't feel comfortable playing ELVENKING's music anymore, having lost passion in this kind of stuff. It was a long time he was talking with us about [it] and when [singer Damnagoras came back to the band], knowing the direction we wanted to go, he told us [about] his [desire] to leave. We have tried to convince him to give it a try but it didn't work out.

"It's a really sad thing because Jarpen was one of the founding members and we have created all this from the beginning together, but on the other hand being friends before musicians we know that this is what Jarpen wanted and we totally respect his decision."

ELVENKING recently completed the songwriting process for their upcoming third album and are expected to enter the studio shortly to begin recording the effort. The follow-up to 2004's "Wyrd" is tentatively due this summer through Germany's AFM Records.
