Early HADES Material To See Light Of Day

October 6, 2003

HADES guitarist Dan Lorenzo has sent us the following update on his current activities:

"Monster Records in San Antonio contacted me a few months ago. They plan to release some old HADES recordings from the early '80s with our original vocalist Paul Smith. There were a bunch of live 2-track plus 16 track songs we recorded before the 'Resisting Success' line-up. They've been working on getting the sound quality up to par and they plan to release it within a few months. It certainly isn't going to get us any new fans, but if you want old school metal, this is about as old as it gets.

"As far as new music... I haven't done anything since the couple of [offshoot band] CASSIUS KING recordings (one CASSIUS KING song appeared on HADES 'Best of 1982-2002') since John Kosco who sang for me on those recordings is now in a new band [DROPBOX] signed by Sully from GODSMACK. I told John if he sang on a couple of my tunes I'd help him become a star. I helped him too quick, he's singing on the new acoustic GODSMACK CD out soon. In a few weeks I'm going to resume the project and try and sing a couple tunes myself with Jimmy Schulman (ex-HADES) on bass and Johnny Milnes (MUCKY PUP, DOG EAT DOG, ALL BORO KINGS) on drums as well as Ron Lipnicki (HADES drums) who is completely done with chemotherapy [to treat his testicular cancer]. I've got a bunch of new tunes plus I always wanted to sing 'Sweet Pain' by KISS so I'll attempt that."
