Drummer RICHARD CHRISTY: 'My Heart Goes Out To CHUCK SCHULDINER And DIMEBAG DARRELL'

December 13, 2004

Metal drummer extraordinaire Richard Christy (ex-ICED EARTH, DEATH, CONTROL DENIED) has sent the following message to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"Hello, Richard Christy here. I just wanted to say that today is the third anniversary of the passing of my dear friend and bandmate Chuck Schuldiner. I woke up today and did what I do most everyday, I put on my headphones and listened to the DEATH 'Human' album. That is the album that started my lifelong love of Chuck's music.

"I still think every day about how lucky I am to have had Chuck as my friend and to have had the ultimate musical honor of being his bandmate. I will never forget the great times, the great laughs, and the great music that we played together. I would also like to thank Chuck's family for treating me like a member of their family, they are possibly the nicest people that I've met on this earth and I would like to thank them for everything.

"I would like to ask everyone in the metal community to think of Chuck today, and every day, and to keep his music and his spirit alive forever. I also want to send my condolences to the family, friends, fans and bandmates of Dimebag Darrell. I am still in shock over what happened, and I consider myself a very lucky person to have had the privilege to hang out with Darrell on many occassions. He was a genuinely nice, sincere, down-to-earth person and I will never forget the good times that I spent with him.

"My heart goes out to these two metal heroes. We will never forget you."
