DOWN: Photos From Last Night's Hometown Performance Posted Online

June 25, 2006

DOWN — the acclaimed New Orleans band featuring CORROSION OF CONFORMITY guitarist/vocalist Pepper Keenan, drummer Jimmy Bower (EYEHATEGOD, SUPERJOINT RITUAL guitarist),bassist Rex Brown (ex-PANTERA),guitarist Kirk Windstein (CROWBAR),and vocalist Philip Anselmo (SUPERJOINT RITUAL, ex-PANTERA) — made their only North American appearance this year in their hometown at Tipitina's on Saturday, June 24. Although the venue's web site was promising a "high-quality" webcast of the concert — which was a benefit event for victims of Hurricane Katrina — only the audio portion was available throughout the entire performance. A couple of photos from the gig have been posted online at NolaUnderground.com (scroll down).

According to one BLABBERMOUTH.NET visitor, "The word we got about the show was that it was sold out, packed and super fucking hot (the venue doesn't have an AC unit and it's New Orleans in June and DOWN's first show in there in years). Scalpers were trying to squeeze $150 for a ticket outside of the show as well to the unlucky lads that were stuck listening to the show from the neutral ground."

As previously reported, DOWN filmed many of the shows on their recent European tour for an upcoming DVD. The band will also begin work on new material shortly and are tentatively planning on entering the studio in September to begin recording their third album.

DOWN's sophomore album, "Down II", was released in March 2002 on Elektra Records. The band headlined the second stage at the 2002 Ozzfest.
