DORO PESCH To Fight Former Porn Star In German Version Of 'Celebrity Boxing'

German metal singer Doro Pesch has entered the world of "Celebrity Boxing".

Pesch will take on former porn star Michaela Schaffrath (a.k.a. Gina Wild) in a three-round bout on German station RTL's "Promi-Boxen 2002" on Saturday, October 26.

Doro was picked to fight Schaffrath as a last-minute replacement for '80s British pop star Samantha Fox, who injured her foot while training for this weekend's match.

Pesch is no stranger to the boxing world, having first gotten into Thai boxing in 1995.

In a February 1996 interview with Metal Maidens magazine, Doro stated: "I'm big time into Thai boxing, I love it so much. I started it about eight months ago and I really enjoy it. My trainer was three-time German champion and I train with him twice a week."

As a result of her passion for the sport, Pesch recently had the unique opportunity of having the title cut of her latest CD, "Fight", used as an "entrance song" by German boxing champion Regina Halmich.

"I went to all her fights and this one time she went into the ring with [WARLOCK's] 'All We Are' and I couldn't believe it!," Pesch recalled. "I saw her after the fight and I said, 'I wrote that song!' and she said, 'I know. I am a big heavy metal fan.' Then we started to become really good friends and she said at one time that it would be really great if I could write her an anthem. I had two demos at that time of 'Always Live to Win' and 'Fight' and I thought they could both fit perfectly for her. So I sent them to her, and she at first wanted 'Always Live To Win', but then later said that she wanted 'Fight'."
