Dustin Schoof of The Express-Times reports: Reigning heavy-metal queen Doro Pesch has survived the rise and fall of pop metal in the 1980s. She also watched as grunge became the dominant sound in the early half of the '90s.From her throne, she has weathered numerous lineup changes in her first band WARLOCK — she left the group in 1989 — and has dealt with the pressure of switching record labels. Through it all, she has kept a friendly smile and gritty determination to soldier on through thick and thin — speaking with giddy enthusiasm and unbridled passion rarely shared by today's rockers. "I've seen (metal) come and go in the '80s, the biggest thing was heavy metal. I couldn't believe it when it fizzled out," she says from her home in New York City. "In the last years, it's been coming back in a big way and I love it. It was a good lesson for us. It makes you feel grounded and you really have to enjoy it when it's going good." Now as a solo act, the German-born, blonde-haired siren is ready to prove to the world that heavy metal is alive and kicking. Her new CD/DVD box set, "20 Years: A Warrior Soul", is a stunning account of her ability to entrance an entire crowd of screaming metal fans and a testament to her love for the stage. "When you really feel the audience really digging it, somehow there is a flow in the show. There's nothing like it. When you get a good response and good feedback — that feeling — nothing else can compare to it," she explains. "I love the fans. I don't have kids and I'm not married. They (the fans) are my family. They're my best friends." Read more at The Express-Times.
