DIAMOND HEAD: Pro-Shot Footage From HEAVY T.O. Festival

July 25, 2011

Professionally filmed video footage of legendary NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) band DIAMOND HEAD performing on July 23 at the Heavy T.O. festival at Downsview Park in Toronto, Ontario, Canada can be seen below.

For the first time in its 35-year history, DIAMOND HEAD will make its way stateside for a U.S. tour.

DIAMOND HEAD's only previous U.S. appearance was at the Metal Meltdown IV festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey in 2002 for a sold-out show with fellow British stalwarts SAXON and WITCHFYNDE. Now, for the first time ever, DIAMOND HEAD's U.S. fans will get the opportunity to see the band perform live.

The tour will kick off in Seattle on August 15 and will conclude in New York City on September 1.

Those fans who may have seen advertised dates, or purchased tickets, for the U.S. NWOBHM Tour featuring DIAMOND HEAD, GIRLSCHOOL, HOLY RAGE (featuring original JUDAS PRIEST singer Al Atkins) and HYDROGYN, the members of DIAMOND HEAD "apologize for the change in lineup." They add, "It has always been our intention to tour with our fellow NWOBHM mates, but sadly it turned out to not be financially feasible at this time."

2011 is turning out to be an exciting, and busy, year for DIAMOND HEAD. It is also a year of firsts for the influential British group. Their first appearance ever with the "Big Four" (METALLICA, SLAYER, ANTHRAX and MEGADETH),the artists on whom they had a major influence, at the Sonisphere festivals in the U.K. and France, was followed by their first performances in Canada, performing with MOTRHEAD, and MEGADETH at the Heavy TO festival in Toronto, along with a performance with GIRLSCHOOL, MOTRHEAD and KISS, at the Heavy MTL festival in Montreal, followed by their first U.S. tour, with a stop in Istanbul, Turkey in the September, which will also be another first for them.
