DEVIN TOWNSEND: Special U.K. Shows To Be Filmed For Unique DVD

Canadian musician/producer Devin Townsend (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, STEVE VAI, LAMB OF GOD, DARKEST HOUR, GWAR) has announced the first two special shows in U.K. for November 2011 for a unique DVD recording.

In June 2011 the world will be struck by two new releases from Townsend. The albums entitled "Deconstruction" and "Ghost" will complete his tetralogy album concept — a great journey through Devin's different states of musical moods — which he started in 2009 with the albums "Addicted" (2009) and "Ki" (2009).

On his currently ongoing and mostly sold-out European tour, Devin is already performing some of the new material and if you have followed Devin through his career, you will know that he is always up for pushing the limits to higher levels. After finishing the tour at the end of March, and after releasing "Deconstruction" and "Ghost" in June, Devin Townsend will return to London U.K. in November 2011 to play a set of very special shows dedicated to his four-album concept and which will be captured live on DVD!

Commented Townsend: " So this intense period of time that has resulted in the four albums of the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, as well as a new band, and a bevy of other things is cresting at the end of this year in some VERY special shows!

"I will be performing each album in its entirety for a DVD as well as album release to coincide with the boxset. These shows are very exclusive and will be held in special venues in the U.K., and seating will be limited. The tickets will go on sale soon and it's best to reserve if you want to be a part of this.

"I have been planning these shows with the new management and we believe that this year will end in some pretty special ways. Preparations have begun now, and we would love you to be a part of it.”

The first two "An Evening With The Devin Townsend Project" tour dates

Nov 10 - London, UK @ Union Chapel ("Ki" show)
Nov 13 - London, UK @ Union Chapel ("Ghost" show)

A very limited number of VIP tickets will also be made available for these shows which will go on sale soon.

Townsend tapped Jens Bogren (OPETH, KATATONIA, PARADISE LOST, BLOODBATH) to mix "Deconstruction". The sessions took place late last month at Fascination Street studio in Örebro, Sweden. The CD will feature a guest appearance by former EMPEROR frontman Ihsahn (real name: Vegard Sverre Tveitan) as well as two drummers — Ryan Van Poederooyen (TERROR SYNDROME, THE DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND) for the "crushing stuff," and Dirk Verbeuren (SOILWORK, SCARVE, ABORTED) for the "inhuman stuff."

Devin previously described "Deconstruction" as "brutal in a lot of parts, but pretty glorious in others. It rides the fence of negativity but ultimately ends supremely positive."

According to Devin, "'Ghost' is the mellowest (by far) and prettiest record I've done so far" with a "very wonderful vibe."

Townsend has just made a five-song live EP available for free download by spreading the word about this page at on Twitter and Facebook. The EP contains the tracks "Supercrush", "Kingdom", "Truth", "Om" and "By Your Command".
